Positamy meet Valentì, the story of limoncello in Positano.
Dear I present myself
My name is Valentino Esposito, born in Positano (on the Amalfitana Coast), Italy, a locality known all over the world for its decorated beauty and loved by poets, writers, artists, directors, painters, musicians, dancers…
Named the ‘vertical city,’ wrote John Steinbeck (one of the most famous American writers…’There is only one road, everything else is steps some steep like a ladder. Don’t walk if you visit a friend but climb up or down them’.
An old fishing village
From one of these hard working and proud families, I had my birthdays broadcasting myself and leaving in dowry the passion and love for the ancient traditions, using products from our area. Secrets and recipes handed down from mother to daughter, who have had years of experience.
Full of this experience, coupled with my team, and supported by a fantastic family of my wife, Gesualda (Lalla), 10-year-old Valentina and 7-year-old Andrea, who we involve (after doing their school homework) in our daily ‘Work in Progress’. In June 2017 we realised our dream: a workshop – a store with a wide garden in a privileged position that allows one to find pleasure in the full enjoyment of the beauty that the ‘vertical city’ offers.
It is here: that we affectionately welcome our guests.
It is here: where using exclusively local products, such as the lemons from the Coast of Amalfi (famously recognised from this coastline) we produce a wide variety of marmalade and mustard used for breakfast, combined with spicy meat and fish, cheese and also lemon flavoured olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
With our products we make jellied candy, citrus chocolates, limoncello chocolates, spreadable cream with hazelnuts and pistachio oil, marmalade biscuits, marmalade, gluten free ground almonds with marmalade and candied fruit and the Positano sweet, the ‘Cupolone’ panettone, with lemon marmalade, mandarin and candied fruit bathed in limoncello or mandarin liqueur.
Our leading product, the most popular, is lemon marmalade. It is a very different marmalade as it has a touch of exclusivity, where those who taste it move from distrust to total confidence in a genuine product full of values, and in chorus they say… ‘it seems like tasting a lemon granita..’
It is here: that our guests can enjoy the famous and legendary limoncello of Positano (made by Valentino in his workshop (Gusto Costa Srl in Praiano) and also more local wines and oil.
It is here: we offer our guests, together with these products, a wide tasting of local salami, cheese and wine.
Before tasting, guests will be actively involved in the production of products through the wide range of tours we offer them.
